Meet Kerry Spencer, Craniosacral Therapist

Kerry is well-regarded in the Great Southern holistic health community as an intuitive and a passionate craniosacral therapist. She is dedicated to working with her clients to facilitate long-lasting change for the better.

With a background in massage, reflexology and metamorphosis, Kerry started her training as a craniosacral therapist in 1997 and after graduating, has had her own practice ever since. Today she supports clients in Albany and Denmark, WA.

In 2014 she was introduced to Access Consciousness for the first time and soon after became a Access Bars Facilitator. She now facilitates regular Access Bars classes and weekly Bars shares in Albany.

With a caring and approachable demeanour, Kerry works with clients of all ages to encourage a release of patterns and imbalance to allow the body to find a place of more ease.

Kerry’s journey as a therapist

Kerry’s interest in healing first began as a child reading books.

“I always found the healers in the stories the most interesting characters.

“So I suppose it wasn’t suprising that I first learnt massage when I was in my early twenties.”

In the early part of her adult life, Kerry travelled extensively. She trained and worked in many varied jobs including as a therapeutic masseuse, reflexologist and metamorphosis practitioner.

“After supporting clients with many different conditions, I started looking for another modality that could make a bigger difference. And it was then that I had a craniosacral session.

“After one session of craniosacral balancing, I realised that it was the modality I had been looking for.

“I loved it! I started training a month or so later.”

Training in Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy

Kerry began her training in 1997 with the International Institute for Craniosacral Balancing, completing the course in 2001.

The course was written and run by Bhaderena C. Tschumi who, as a craniosacral therapist, surervisor and teacher herself, had developed a deeply connective new program of craniosacral therapy introducing the qualities of presence and awareness. Also taught by Kavi A. Gemin, and a number of other world-class therapists and teachers, the course had connections to the Multiversity in Pune, India.

“From the very beginning of the training, I loved the connection with energy. It was astounding to witness how such subtle movements – which the body itself instigates – can facilitate such incredible changes.”

The course itself lasted four years, involving four series of 10-day intensive periods for training and practice, and completing 100 case studies. While she was still training, Kerry also took the opportunity to get more involved by assisting in a few trainings herself. “This was a fantastic opportunity which firmly embedded the work both into my body and my knowing.”

Kerry says she has been practising craniosacral balancing ever since.

“Even after 20 plus years, I am still passionate about craniosacral balancing and the changes it can bring about for my clients.

“I find it exteremely rewarding to facilitate bodies and beings to a place of improved relaxation and spaciousness.”

Even after 20 plus years, I am still passionate about craniosacral balancing and the changes it can bring about for my clients.

Access Consciousness® Practitioner

Kerry shares how she came to incorporate Access Consciousness and Bars into her practice.

“In 2014, a friend visiting from Queensland ran my Bars and introduced me to Access Consciousness.

“Similar to my reaction to my first craniosacral session, I loved it and was very intrigued by the whole Access Consciousness ‘points of view’ about life and reality.

“Shortly after I invited a Bars facilitator to Albany to teach a Bars class, and after that decided to become a Bars Facilitator myself.

“I taught my first Bars class in 2015 and since then have facilitated Bars for around 80 people in Albany, Denmark, Balingup and Queensland.

“I also started integrating the Access Consciousness tools into my craniosacral sessions, when it was appropriate.”

Today, Kerry is an integral part of the Access Consciousness community in the region arranging regular classes for new Bars practitioners, hosting almost weekly Bars swap sessions and organising other Access Consciousness workshops and courses.

Kerry’s intuitive ability gives her the capacity to integrate Access Consciousness tools and processing into craniosacral sessions when appropriate.
